"Real" Book Challenge - July!

"Real" Books Read in July: 7
Total: 65

I read two massive books in July. City of Heavenly Fire is over 700 pages (*faints*) and Heir of Fire is the biggest ARC I've ever seen. I thought I was going to fall behind but their size didn't make that much of a difference. Heir of Fire is pretty cool and I'm giving away my copy here.  I have a love/hate relationship with The Mortal Instruments but I couldn't stay away from the last book of the series. I hate to admit this but I really enjoyed it. Somehow, I continue to talk about Melina Marchetta (I'm not even sorry) and I'm sad to announce that I've read all of her books. I'll have to wait rather impatiently until her new novel comes out. Speaking of great novels by talented writers, Falling into Place by Amy Zhang is ridiculously amazing and you should read it when it comes out in September. I wrote an "Early Cuddles" post for Cuddlebuggery and you can read it here

Top 10 Most Anticipated Novels (May-October)

I have a ridiculously long list of the books I can't wait to get my hands on (and another one just as long of the titles that I've been lucky enough to read early and I can't wait to discuss them with other readers) so I thought I would share it with you!

1. Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch (October 14th by Balzer + Bray)

Fantasy is one of my favorite genres so I am over-the-moon excited about Snow Like Ashes. It sounds epic: fantasy, romance, and an awesome (hopefully) female main character.

2. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart (May 13th 2014 by Delacorte Press)

I already read this one and all I have to say for now is this: PLEASE READ IT.

3. Stitching Snow by R.C. Lewis (October 14th by Disney-Hyperion)

There's something about retellings that I can't resist. This one is about Snow White and it sounds amazing. A little sci-fi, a dash of romance, and a beloved fairy-tale? Yes, please.

4. The Mime Order (The Bone Season #2) by Samantha Shannon (October 21st by Bloomsbury)

I've been talking about The Bone Season since I read it last year. I think I've mentioned it several times in this blog alone. My only goal in life is to sit in my room and wait until for October 21st to come around so I can devour The Mime Order in one sitting.

5. The Retribution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #3) by Michelle Hodkin (November 4th by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers)

The first book in this series is really creepy but it also happens to be really awesome. I've been waiting for this one to come out so I can read the second one in the series but I'm not sure how much longer I can contain myself.

6. The Young Elites (The Young Elites #1) by Marie Lu (October 7th by Putnam Books for Young Readers)

Enough said.

7. Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass #3) by Sarah J. Maas (September 2nd by Bloomsbury USA Childrens)

There's nothing I love more in this world than the Throne of Glass series. There, I said it. While I enjoyed Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight is made of pure awesome and left me wanting more. I'm also really curious about the cover. All of them are stunning and I'm sure this one won't be the exception.

8. Landline by Rainbow Rowell (July 8th by St. Martin's Press)

Since Rainbow Rowell can do no wrong, I'm pre-ordering this novel based on the fact that I KNOW I'll love it. The end.

9. Ruin and Rising (The Grisha #3) by Leigh Bardugo (June 17th by Henry Holt and Co)

I have a love/hate relationship with this series. I loved the first book in the series and I didn't have a great time reading the second one. I am excited to read the conclusion, though!

10. The One (The Selection #3) by Kiera Cass (May 6th by HarperTeen)

This one is here as my "guilty pleasure" pick. This series like The Bachelor but a lot more frustrating. I won't be buying this one but I'll pick it up from the library.

Most Anticipated Novels of 2014!

1. Ignite Me (Shatter Me #3) - February 4th

Oh, god. There is one thing I know for sure: This trilogy will kill me. I read both Shatter Me and Unravel Me (plus the novellas) in 2013 and I cannot wait until February rolls around. I loathe love triangles but I'm totally on board for this one. I don't know why. I just know that I'm addicted to this novels.

2. The Retribution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #3) - June 10th

I've been putting off the second installment of this trilogy for the longest time. Is it just me or the publication date keeps changing? I'm saving The Evolution of Mara Dyer until this one is out so I don't drive myself crazy with the cliffhanger!

3. Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke and Bone #3) - April 8th

Beautiful writing, anyone? That's what you get from Laini Taylor. The most stunning sentences you'll have the pleasure of reading. While I am not ready to say goodbye to this magnificent world, I am really looking forward to reading the last book of the series.

Also, can we look at this part of the summary and not hyperventilate?
From the streets of Rome to the caves of the Kirin and beyond, humans, chimaera and seraphim will fight, strive, love, and die in an epic theater that transcends good and evil, right and wrong, friend and enemy.

4. Untitled (The Bone Season #2) - No release date

I don't know for sure when this will be released (or if it'll be out in 2014) but I need it right now! The first book in the series is so intricate that I'm afraid I'll forget important details if the sequel doesn't come out soon. This one is on the very top of my To-Buy List of 2014!

5. Untitled (The Darkest Minds #3) - No release date

After Never Fade, I don't know how my heart will be able to handle the last book of the trilogy. All I know is that I need answers. Lots and lots of answers. And more Liam.

6. Landline - July 8th

After Fangirl, Attachments and Eleanor & Park, there is nothing you can say that will keep me from pre-ordering this one. Rainbow Rowell can do no wrong in my book and I am counting down the days until this one hits the shelves.

7. Panic - March 4th

I read the Delirium trilogy this year and I really enjoyed it. Panic has a very intriguing premise, which has me really excited for March.

8. Opposition (Lux #5) - August 5th

Oh, the Lux series. I don't want to say that I really need this one but I do. These books are like crack! I don't understand why I can't put them down or why I felt the need to marathon the first four books of the series. But I do and I did so I'm not even sorry.

9. Isla and the Happily Ever After (Anna and the French Kiss #3) - March 13th

This one can't come out fast enough! I'm pretty sure I had this one as scheduled to be published in 2013 but it got pushed back. I adore the first two which is why this book is one of the few Contemporary novels that I can't wait to read in 2014.

10. What I Thought Was True - April 15th

As soon as I finished My Life Next Door I said that I would read anything by Huntley Fitzpatrick. So this is me staying true to my word. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy.
